It was the first day of school. Shawn Rulin, 13 years old, got a big surprise. His best friend, Taylor Hill, also 13 years old, whom he hadn't seen since long, came back. Shawn, feeling really lonely, was filled of joy to get his best friend back. Then, Shawn fell for a girl named Jessica Runnels, 13 years old, a very beautiful girl. The two became friends and then Shawn decided to tell her about his feelings. She shattered his heart by telling him that they couldn't be more than friends. Shawn was devastated and he wanted to die. It was then that his best friend Taylor came to him, to give him his support, friendship and...love. Taylor confessed his love for Shawn, thus saving the latter. The two became boyfriends. Shawn had to face his sister and mother about his new way of life but finally, both accepted that life. A little bit of time passed, rather well for Shawn and Taylor but not for Maria and Jessica. Michael, now out of the series, was the ex-boyfriend of Jessica and the boyfriend of Maria in Season 1 but after some troubles, Michael ran away with Teri, now out of the series, the sister of Jessica. Maria's heart broke but soon healed with the love of Scott Hughes, 13 years old, who broke up with Monica (out of series) who went away with Craig (out of series) and the latter's girlfriend (out of series). Jessica healed on her own and the friendship of Shawn. Yes, they re-built their friendship.

But then, the nightmare started. Kevin Rhodes, 13 years old, arrived in Sunrise Valley. He befriended Shawn, as he (Kevin) pretended to be gay. Kevin helped Shawn through some rough times (Shawn had some problems with his mother concerning his homosexuality and Shawn had been humiliated by Menrad). Shawn trusted him and regretted it after a while, after Taylor met Kevin. Both acted weirdly. Meanwhile, Maria was having a very good time with Scott. But their happiness got broken by the intervention of Fox McBerry, 13 years old, who's madly obsessed by Maria. He attacked Scott and most probably made the latter's house explode, did Fox kill Scott? Kathryn Summers, 13 years old, arrived in town. She's the best friend of Jessica. The latter was so happy that her best friend returned to Sunrise Valley. Kathryn fell for Fox, but the latter didn't want her. Well, he went out with her at first but then broke up. Kathryn didn't accept it, she knew Fox dumped her for another girl, so now she has decided to find out who's that girl and surpass her.

Let's get back to Shawn, Taylor and Kevin. Shawn didn't get over his problems yet. His Uncle arrived in town, Shawn and Maria never saw him before. So, of course, at first they felt a bit weird about him. Shawn and Maria didn't go to him as quickly as he, Ben (the Uncle) expected. And at the same time, Taylor and Kevin got into disputes. Kevin started to put doubts in Shawn's mind, the latter didn't well understand and was too preoccupied with his Uncle. Taylor helped Shawn with the latter, and Shawn built a link with Ben. Later, Maria did the same. Shawn also learnt that Tommy Matthews, 13 years old and cousin of Shawn (Tommy is the son of Ben), helped (he was forced to) Menrad in humiliating him. Fortunately for Tommy, Shawn trusted him and with the help of Maria, he took his revenge on Menrad. Shawn and Tommy bonded and became very good friends. But then, after a passionate night of love with Taylor, the latter revealed him his past. Shawn was stunned. He went to Kevin to ask him for the truth, the latter gave him another version of Taylor's story. Kevin said that Taylor was a murderer, he killed a girl named Adriana, and that he ran away before the police could catch him. Kevin wanted Taylor to pay for what he did. Shawn was lost and stopped talking to Taylor. Then, one night, after talking with Jessica (Jessica comforted Shawn), Shawn saw his boyfriend, Taylor, lying on the ground, a look of hurt in the eyes and covered with blood.
