aaainfo.html - AAA info page The American Academy of Actuaries is the single public policy voice of the actuarial profession representing actuaries in all practice specialties: health, life, pension and casualty. The Academy provides the actuarial profession's resources to government officials and those involved in the public policy process. Through its nonpartisan work on public issues and its mission of upholding high professional standards, the Academy enhances the reputation of all actuaries.
Mission Statement

The Academy's mission is to ensure that the American public recognizes and benefits from (1) the independent expertise of the actuarial profession in the formulation of public policy, and (2) the adherence of actuaries to high professional standards in discharging their responsibilities.


Professional standards of practice and discipline procedures are the responsibility of the Actuarial Standards Board and the Actuarial Board for Counseling and Discipline, respectively, both independent entities managed through the Academy. The Academy also establishes qualification standards for making public statements of actuarial opinion.
