DOS PROGRAMS:
The code for these programs is a CONSTANT. What varies is different versions of WINDOWS(TM) (3.1,95,98,2000,XP,Vista etc.). Since Win 98, all subsequent versions of WINDOWS (TM) no longer 'sit on top of DOS'. What newer WIN versions have done instead is to EMULATE DOS. These emulations have varied. NONE have emulated DOS perfectly. As a result, any DOS or WIN+DOS hybrids may not run as they were originally intended to. That CAUTION may well apply to these systems. If they do not run as they did originally, it's not that we've changed anything. WIN and its DOS emulations have changed. SORRY. So it goes.
One option for avoiding these problems is to get and install DOSBox. You can either find links to DOSBox by entering "DOSBox" into a search engine (Google, Yahoo, MSM, Ask... etc.), or go directly to the home URL of DOSBox: http://dosbox.sourceforge.net
We've tried DOSBox on various WIN versions (besides WIN, DOSBox is also supposed to work on Linux and Mac as long as they run on i86 hardware), and all three DOS systems above work OK. DOSBox seems to solve the 'emulation' problem.
But wait, there's more. DOSBox will also run WIN 3.1 to a limited degree. You need to have your own copy of WIN 3.1 plus a program like WINlite (look it up on Google, Yahoo, MSM, Ask... etc.) to make this possible.
At a minimum, DOSBox will allow a limited WIN 3.1 bootup within its DOS box, which in turn will allow you to run things like FreeAPL (SEE: ARRAY PROCESSING RESOURCES link below for more on this), and our WIN/DOS hybrid demo for TURBO Spring-StatWIN(c) (see below in the WIN section) without any glitches.
As in most things, there are TRADEOFFS. You end up suffering a substantial SPEED HIT. However, this SPEED HIT is necessary to make the timing problems with passing files back and forth go away.
Another option is to try the WIN versions of the above systems. The WIN versions are available below.

Once you've downloaded, create a directory for your software, move the ZIP file to this directory and then UN-ZIP the file. Once it's unzipped, read the README.TXT file, and then proceed.
