Shyam Sunder joined Andersen Consulting Strategic Services after obtaining his MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, in May 1997. Prior to joining Wharton, Shyam spent over eight years in various capacities in the merchant marine, specializing in very large crude oil tanker operations. He has a Master Mariner's certificate and is qualified to command seagoing cargo vessels. In 1986 Shyam graduated from the Training Ship Rajendra in Mumbai, and obtained the top honor of a Gold Medal from the President of India.

Shyam's primary area of interest in management strategy consulting is the impact of technology, particularly the internet, on the financial services industry. Shyam is also an active alumnus of The Wharton School, interviewing prospective students for the admissions office.

Shyam's wife, Priya, is a graduate student at The Medill School of Journalism, Northwestern University. Her specialization is in the area of business and economic journalism using new media, especially the internet.

In his leisure, Shyam enjoys spending time with his family, including his daughter, Sangeeta. Shyam also enjoys music of many different origins, and good food. Shyam is an avid cricket and soccer player and follower.
