The graph below is a plot of the total number of ticket selections available for each of the totals that occur when you add the 6 numbers together that make up a Canada Lottery 649 selection. (The minimum total being 1+2+3+4+5+6 = 21 and the maximum total being 44+45+46+47+48+49 = 279). The data is listed at the bottom of this page.
These totals are significant since selecting combinations that only sum up to predicted totals will reduce the actual number of Canada Lottery 649 ticket selections available. In each draw 7 totals win - one for the 6 number winner and 6 for the 5+bonus number winners.
The maximum available combinations of six numbers for a specified sum occurs for the total of 150 (165,772 combinations). Totals between 130 and 170 repeat themselves on average once every 12 draws. It is therefore logical that the sum of the six numbers selected should always sum up to one total (or range of totals for multiple tickets) for each draw. This will reduce the number of available tickets by at least 8400% when the total of 150 is drawn, and at least 10,000% as the total drawn approaches 130 and 170.
That is a reduction of 18000% in the available combinations!!
