Introduction to the Soweto Centre Project

The road to establishing this project began with the Soweto community identifying what it needed most urgently. The common needs included:

1. Job creation and employment opportunities

2. Education and special skills training

3. Proper community service facilities

4. Pride of community spirit

5. Security

The results of the community interaction showed that Soweto needed to establish its own metropolis. A region that would be the centre of culture, trade, transportation and commerce. An area that would ignite the engines of further development within Soweto.

Eventually a final basic concept was adopted with the blessing of the Soweto community, and the Soweto Centre project was born.

About the Centre

The professional team has worked to develop a centre that has a broad range of facilities under one umbrella.

Together these facilities complement each other. They bring people into contact with other interests and activities. The facilities also support each other. Those facilities that generate income from their activities are vitally important for funding community facilities. These community facilities provide a range of valuable services to the community at little or no cost, improving the quality of life for many of the Soweto residents.

The Soweto Centre will offer over four million people a chance to realise self-worth, self-esteem and self realisation. Most importantly each individual member of the Soweto community will be given an opportunity to help improve the lives of those around him.
