The past two yearsand, in particular, the last several months have been very trying for Malaysians. The economic turmoil followed by unexpected developments in the political scene have affected Malaysians from all walks of life.
It cannot be denied that the Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad is doing all it can to revive the economy and to restore the quality of life of the good old days. At this time when we are beginning to see positive developments in economic developments in economic recovery, let us remind ourselves that it is our duty to take upon ourselves the responsibility to work with the Government and to get the nation back on track.
Any disunity among ourselves is only going to weaken us. We must put aside personel aspirations and put the interest of the nation first. We Malaysians are mature enough to realise that we do not want another foreign occupation or another May 13, and a true Malaysian will stand against all forms of aggression and violence.
Now is not the time to bicker or criticise. Instead, we must join forces and build. And to those who only know how to criticise, where were they when things were going well? Let us show our loyalty to our leaders and the nation. Let us support their efforts and work with them.
Maybe we should all start reading the Rukunegara again.
