The 42 Volt applications of the SOFC will be determined by which hybrid vehicle design or designs are on the market in the future. The hybrid car of tomorrow could take on a number of designs, full electric/ battery powered vehicle, a parallel hybrid, a series hybrid and other designs. Advancements in fuel cell technology will have commercially viable automobiles running on fuel cells alone in about 10-20 years. Until that time the hybrid vehicle will be the best choice for an environmentally friendly vehicle.
