Partnered with General Electric, Plug has developed a Proton Exchange Membrane
(PEM) fuel cell. Their fuel cells are currently under test in residential sites

Ballard Power:
Ballard has been trying to commercialize the PEM fuel cell since 1989. Ballard
has partnerships with Ford Motors and Daimler Chrysler. Ballard has their fuel
cells in test conditions in several cities in North America.

Fuel cells: A United Technologies company that is developing a PEM
fuel cell. Recently International announced their cell was operating with
more power and less weight than Ballard's system.
Avista
Corp.: Has a modular PEM design that they are developing for the
residential and small commercial applications. They're also involved in B
to B software and Bill Gates holds a 5% stake in the company.
Allied Signal : Merged with the
Honeywell Corporation and is still working on the planar SOFC at their Torrence,
California factory.
SatCon
Technology: Supplies cutting edge electrochemical devices that are ready to meet
the demands of the new millennium. SatCon supplies and develops products for the
power and energy management industry.
CFCL: Ceramic
Fuel Cells Limited is an Australian company that is working with SOFC
technology. They are developing a 25kw system that uses super-heated steam
energy as part of the unit. Designed for commercial applications, their product

Sulzer
Hexis : Sulzer Hexis is developing the SOFC design. It has units
under test in Europe, however reported outputs leave something to be desired.
Fuel Cell Energy Inc.:
FCE is developing a direct fuel cell design. These units are designed to provide
power and heat at high temperatures in the Mw range for industrial use.
