Fuel Cells

  Delphi Automotive

Global has a contract to develop the SOFC technology with Delphi Automotive for BMW. The companies are developing  an Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) for 42 volt automobile applications. Delphi is supplying the gasoline reformer and Global  is supplying the fuel cell stack components. 

The APU will replace the battery on the car and more. The APU will be capable of handling the air-conditioning, and other future electrical demands of the hybrid vehicle, even valve train operation. 

Obligations to the Delphi current contract are at about the half way point . Any further contracts have yet to be announced.

Compartment Heaters

May 17/00: Global received  an initial $900,000 contract for upgrading the compartment heaters of the M113 personnel carrier, United Defense is a major supplier of military vehicles and hardware. This contract is the first that Global has had with this company, and could be the start of a significant relationship for the upgrading of the 40 variants of the M113, that total over 80,000 vehicles that United has produced to date. Future production should see contracts for the compartment heaters if all goes well.

  TACOM

Global won a contract to standardize the U.S. Army's compartment heaters for their tracked vehicles in 1996. The original $18 million contract was part of a program of  modernization of the military heaters. An optional $8 million contract was awarded to Global in 1999.

 

Thermoelectric Generators (TEG)

  Gas Authority of India

In July of 1999 Global announced it had a $19 million contract with the Gas Authority of India, the contract obligated Global to supply and install  TEG equipment at 68 sites along 1,200 km of gas pipeline. Delivery was scheduled to take place late in 1999. Global's top ten TEG customers are located in the U.S., Asia, and Latin America. In 1998 Global shipped large orders to India and China.
