Compartment Heaters

Heater

In 1995 the Tank Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) of the United States Army initiated a program to design a heater for military use. Global won the $18 million contract to modernize the military heater in  1996. Delivery of the Global prototype heater was taken by the U.S. military in 1997. After a year of rigorous testing approval for production was given in July 1998.

Early approval for Heater production

The Global heaters are currently being installed in U.S. military tracked vehicles coming off the production lines of two major U.S. Defense contractors. Quotes have been tendered to NATO countries for the A 20 heater. The wheeled military market has yet to be tapped. Plans to adapt the heaters for the rear of trucks, and personnel quarters are being considered.

The M1 Tank has Global's compartment heaters installed as standard equipment.
