2000.04.12 Denmark New Queen Margrethe II Portrait Series

On April 12, Post Denmark commissioned a series of 8 new definitive stamps featuring a new portrait of Queen Margrethe II to mark the 60th birthday of the Queen. The new portrait is the fifth since 1974, when the first definitive stamps featuring Queen Margrethe were published. The eight different prices covering most of the ordinary postal charges for letters to Denmark and abroad, replaced all the old Queen Series definitive stamps at one fell swoop. This series of eight is the second biggest series of definitive stamps ever issued on a single day in Denmark.
On the same time, a new stamp machine booklet with a co-print of six
wavy line stamps and two DKK4.00 Queen Margrethe II stamps featuring the
new portrait of the Queen was issued.
