2000.06.16    United States Fruit Barries Coil

USPS issued on June 16 the 4x33c Fruit Barries definitive stamps in linerless roll of 100 self-adhesive coil. The stamps feature the same basic designs as the Fruit Berries stamps released in 1999 and the reprint in March 2000. The new production is of a vertical coil format with die cuts perforation at top and bottom, obvious different from the 1999 coil which are horizontal coils with die cuts at left and right. Another difference from its former is the year inscription: the new Berries coils have a "2000" year date printed in the lower-left corner of the design, just within the stamp design itself while the 1999 Fruit Berries coils inscripe a "1999" year date printed in the lower-left margin, below the design, and the 2000 March Berries with a "2000" year date printed in the lower-left margin, below the design.

The new coil stamps have no liner paper, coiled upon themselves like a roll of adhesive tape. This is the third of the same type followed  the linerless 32c Flag Over Porch experimental linerless self-adhesive coil (Scott 3133) and the nondenominated (25c) service-inscribed Juke Box linerless coil (Scott 3132).
