2000.06.20 Australia International Rate Definitive Series
From July 1, Australia will adopt a new tax legislation, which stipulates
that GST will be levied for domestic mail, while the overseas mail free
of GST. In view of this, Australia Post issued on June 20 a series of new
international rate definitive stamps to meet the new need. The series showcases
Australia's breathtaking panoramic views, consisting eight stamps ranges
from 50c to 10 dallors:

All the stamps are in distinctive size and shape, carrying the "International Post" branding, so distinguish themselves from others sold for domestic mail. This is the first stamps in Australia designed and developed exclusively for use on international mail.
The 50c and $1.50 stamps also form part of Australia Post's Olympic stamp programme, with the logos of Olympic and Paralympic Games.
