
On 2 October 2000 New Zealand Post released two new Scenic Definitive stamps to facilitate a rate change for Standard Post (90c) and FastPost ($1.30) extra large letters within New Zealand. The new 90c stamp design features the gentle, symmetrical shape of Rangitoto Island, one of the most distinctive landmarks of the Hauraki Gulf. This superb volcanic landscape is home to the largest pohutukawa forest in the world. The $1.30 stamp design features Lake Camp in south Canterbury. this small lake is situated on the plateau between the headwaters of the Rangitata and South Branch Ashburton Rivers.
