Soul Calibur Reviews

Soul Caliber is the best fighting game I have ever played PERIOD. I will try not to be biased in this review however, so I'll point out the pros and cons. PROS: Every character has been developed incredibly well. Even the spaces between each finger are something to drool at. The backgrounds are fantastic as well. Not even at one moment have I seen this game go below 60 fps. It ran as smooth as F-ZERO X for the Nintendo 64. Each character also has their own special moves, combos, and fighting style. CONS: This game is a 3D fighting game, so attacks don't respond as fast as a jab would in Street Fighter. This doesn't really matter because it gives players all the more time to fire off an awesome looking combo. I know there's a lot of talk about Famitsu giving this game a perfect score, I also know about gamespot giving it a perfect score… but there is one problem: no network support for the North American version. The Dreamcast network will be up and running by the time of launch, but Sega has also announced that there will be no multiplayer gaming support for the first few months. This can only mean the North American version will not be as exciting as the Japanese version. Anyway, since that flaw doesn't apply to this review, Soul Caliber scores a perfect in every category :){SCORE:10/10}
