"The Gleaner" here is a nickname for the person who put The Gleaner's Language Links Project together. It has nothing to do with any religious group whatsoever. The similarity of this nickname to that of any religious group is pure coincidence. For an explanation of its use on this website, click here.

As part of the Reading Languages section of The Gleaner's Language Links Project, this Religious Texts links page is meant to provide links to web sites that provide primary religious texts in languages other than English.  To that end, links are provided to the following types of text:

1.  Sacred texts in their original languages -- such as the Koran in Arabic.
2.  Important, ancient translations of the sacred texts -- such as the Septuagint.
3.  Modern translations of the sacred texts.
For those religions for which no texts in the original language are available on the internet, the Gleaner has provided links to informational web sites in English only.
