PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
NAPAN Group, Public Affairs Division 6/97-10/97 Assistant Manager Reported directly to Division Head (Assistant Vice President). NAPAN one of the fastest growing Indonesian business groups at the time and served as a holding company and stakeholder for various companies such as the publicly-listed PT London-Sumatra Plantations, PT Argha Karya, and PT Branta Mulia. Job primarily dealt with public relations and was tasked with carrying out the media relations function by liaising with the members of the local and international press corps in Jakarta regarding the Group's and its subsidiaries development. PT Bank Niaga, Advisory and Research Unit, Merchant Banking Group 10/96-6/97 Assistant Manager The Merchant Banking Division eventually became the Merchant Banking Group and with Merchant Banking's expansion, its role was increased further to include a seperate Advisory and Research Unit. Reported directly to the head of the Advisory and Research Division which was the rank of Vice President. As the Group's researcher, was tasked with compiling and producing the necessary data and reports on industries and companies required by the Company's project finance and advisory teams. This included extensive on-site visits and interviews with company and industry experts. Was also tasked with supporting the Advisory team in its function of liaising between the borrower and prospective lenders. Companies covered during my stay there included poultry, canning, and various industries. Also served as the Public Relations function as well and was in charge of producing disseminating tombstones, corporate profiles, and advertisements on the Group's activities and achievements. PT Bank Niaga, Merchant Banking Division, Corporate Banking Group, Jakarta Indonesia 12/94-10/96 Assistant Manager Reported directly to the Senior Manager in charge of Syndications and Project Finance. PT Bank Niaga is one of Indonesia's leading privately-owned bank. Main role within the Syndications and Project Finance team of Bank Niaga's Merchant Banking Division was to provide and produce company and industry research reports which is to be compiled into an Information Memorandum for a prospective syndication or project finance transaction which the team lead manages. This task included extensive research on the required topics required as well as interviews with experts and on-site visits. Companies handled during my stay with the team included Pharmaceuticals, Cement, Shrimp Farming, Telecommunications, and Property. PT Sigma Batara Securities, Jakarta, Indonesia 9/93-6/94 Equities Analyst Reported directly to the President of the Company which was directly in charge of research. As an equities analyst, was tasked with researching and monitoring the progress of listed companies within the Jakarta Stock Exchange. Sigma Batara is a joint venture securities company owned by an Indonesian state-owned bank, PT BAPINDO, and a South Korean bank, KIMBACO (Korean Import Merchant Bank Corporation). As an analyst, we were tasked with supporting our equities sales team in identifying and recommending prospective companies within the Jakarta Stock Exchange through our company reports. Was also tasked with accompanying and briefing prospective investor and foreign fund managers during on site company visits. Also, supported the Corporate Finance Team in providing the necessary company and industry research for prospective companies wishing to list in the market through an IPO which our Company underwrite and managed. PT Niaga Securities (formerly BZW-Niaga Securities), Jakarta, Indonesia 3/92-9/93 Research Analyst Reported directly to the Research Head and carried out corporate and general industry research for Listed Companies operating in the Pulp & Paper, Cement, Property, Tobacco, Garment and Textiles Sectors. The Company was a joint venture arm between PT Bank Niaga, a major privately-owned Indonesian bank, and BZW of the UK. As a research analyst, was carried out with compiling and gathering datas on the subject sought through on-site research, interviews with industry experts or corporate executives for the purpose of producing a company analysis report or a more detailed industry or sectoral study which was published by our regional office in Hong Kong for our investors in London, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore and other major Asian markets. Was also tasked with accompanying and briefing prospective investor and foreign fund managers during on site company visits. Main product of teh company was the Equity Working List (EWL), which was an analysis and compilation of our recommendations on listed Indonesian Companies within the Jakarta Stock Exchange. Also had the opportunities to contribute articles to BZW's (Barclays de Zoette Wedd) magazine during a stint with the firm. ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Secretariat, Jakarta, Indonesia 8/90-3/92 Economic Assistant Reported directly to the Assistant Director (ADR) on economic matters pertaining to ASEAN industry, trade, and tourism aspects within the ASEAN member states. Also dealt with multilateral relations between the ASEAN member nations and Japan and South Korea. Main functions during with the organization were as follows: - monitor and report the progress of ASEAN projects pertaining to trade, industry and tourism projects as well ASEAN projects funded by Japan and South Korea - researches and compile datas for prospective projects and proposals pertaining to trade, industry and tourism matters as well as in special areas such as CEPT (Common Effective Preferential Tariff) and AFTA - rapporteuring tasks for ASEAN Senior Officials and Ministerial Meetings relating to industry, trade and tourism and APEC Senior Officials Meetings and Workshops.
OTHER INFORMATION
Have received a number of training during the eight years of work experience which included a three month on-the-job training with PDCP (Private Development Corporation of the Philippines) in June 1990-August 1990 within the Account Management and Economic Research Divisions. Also attended an Introduction to Financial Analysis Course in Jakarta which was carried out by the Edinburgh Financial Publishing Co. in January 1994 and a Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People (In-house) Seminar during my stay with Bank Niaga. In addition to this, have also attended a Public Relations Symposium in Jakarta in July 1997. Fluent in the English and Indonesian language and have some knowledge of Tagalog, Spanish and French.
