Workshop Leaders:

As a leading authority on WCDMA 3G system, Harri Holma joined Nokia Research Center in 1994 and received his M.Sc. from Helsinki University of Technology in 1995. Since 1994 he has been working with 3rd generation WCDMA air interface with special interest on radio network performance. In January 1998 he joined Nokia Networks and he is currently working as Senior Specialist with WCDMA radio network development.

Mr. Holma has edited the book "WCDMA for UMTS", and has authored three chapters in the book "WCDMA for 3rd Generation Mobile Communications" by Ojanpera and Prasad.

As a major contributor to WCDMA 3G Standards, Antti Toskala ( M.Sc.) is the 3GPP Chairman for the TSG RAN WG1, the group responsible for the physical layer of the WCDMA standard.  He joined the Nokia Research Center in 1994, where he

was involved with WCDMA system studies. In September 1995, he joined the ACTS FRAMES project. In later phase of the FRAMES project he worked as the team leader for the work package that defined the FMA2 WCDMA concept.

During 1997, he was working as a Senior Research Engineer and CDMA Specialist participating in the ETSI SMG2 UMTS standardization work. Currently he is with IP Mobility Networks at Nokia Networks working as Standardization Manager with WCDMA and GSM standardization. He has published numerous papers in the field of WCDMA 3G system and GSM system and is co-editor (with Harri Holma) of the Book "WCDMA for UMTS."

Harri and Antti have just published 2nd edition of <<WCDMA for UMTS>>

Harri and Antti will be happy to autograph your copy of the book <<WCDMA for UMTS>>

Who should Attend This Workshop

This 3G CDMA workshop is designed for chip designers, network engineers, RF planners, engineering managers and others who want to learn how 3G System works and how best to implement the technology. This is the place to get all of your questions answered on the latest advancements in 3G.

Since our workshop leaders are directly responsible for 3G Standards development, please feel free to ask any in-depth questions regarding 3G systems during the workshop. You will also get many inside stories regarding 3G Systems and their readiness for commercial deployments.

We will cover W-CDMA in a step-by-step fashion. The emphasis will be on system engineering, migration, optimization and system implementation.
