I focused on the front of this cactus flower with the f-stop wide open so it would blur the rest of the flower in to the background for a surrealistic image.
An freak snowstorm dumped six inches on this Sanderling beach in two hours, and then left as quickly as it came. Shooting directly in to the sun, I had to overexpose the image slightly so the snow would look white instead of gray, but not too much or the storm would lose its imposing darkness.
A break in the trees frames this shot of the Currituck Lighthouse over the Whalehead Club footbridge. The evening sun provides some great lighting.
