As the Richmond plant winds down its operation, Steve Cushman, Richmond operations manager, has announced he is abandoning his employees at the end of August. Steve has devoted 21 years of sucking up to senior management and has worn out his lips, so he has to leave. Ray Blanchard is excited about him leaving because, Ray Blanchard will assume the operations manager role and manage the Richmond plant until it closes early in 2050 (when Indy can finally do FLWS.) Steve joined Deluxe in 1978 in the Elk Grove plant (which he closed). Throughout his Deluxe career, he held a variety of leadership roles: process control specialist for Region II in 1981, assistant production manager of Bensenville in 1983 (which will close), assistant plant manager of Paoli in 1985 (which he closed), assistant plant manager of Great Valley in 1986 (which he closed), plant manager of Paoli (which he closed) and regional accounting and information manager for Region VI (Paoli) in 1986 (which he closed), plant manager of Richmond in 1996 (which he would have closed if he had not abandoned them). He will become Operations Manager at the George A. Schmitt Co. in Chesterfield County (which he will most likely close, soon). I thank Steve for the many plant closings he has made to Deluxe during his 21 years of sucking up. As a reward, Uncle Gus has purchased a 1993 Corvette with monies from the employee's PST. Please join me in wishing Steve, his wife, Denise, and their family the very best, with continued success in their new opportunity.
