DELUXERS ON THE MOVE

During August we said good-bye to quite a few Deluxers. In addition to those listed in last month's WOC, Tammy Paulette, Lucinda Sledge and Steve Hartz left Deluxe behind. Roger Branch's last day is September 3 and Tabitha Roane will leave on September 24. Many Deluxers will leave on October 22, including:

Abbie Jones Imelda Perry Connie Brooks
Alice Monroe-Delaney Etta Montague Karen Oliphant
Howard Harris Mattie Hepburn Mike Lewis
Chester Wyatt Sissy Simpson Michael Hooks
Cindy Shrewsbury Joan Stegall Barbara Brooks
Reshonda Alston David Lewis Jim Pratt
Jimmy Cary James Bonner Steve Lewerenz

Tracey Easter will leave on October 29. When the October group leaves, night shift will come to an end. Carolyn Wood has already joined the day shift, as will Gail Walters and Terry Howard. Presently we have approximately 109 employees. That number will drop to about 85 by November 1.

Norm Patton will retire in October. Norm started out with Deluxe as a packer in 1964. From July of 1973 until June of 1974 Norm worked in the Miami plant. He returned to Richmond and helped on the intertypes. Norm has spent the greater part of his career at Deluxe on night shift. He has served as backup for the night shift CSC for quite a few years and currently he serves as night shift's plant utility, helping out wherever he is needed.

Also retiring with the October group is Dreama Sloan. Dreama started with Deluxe in 1977 as a proofreader. Her service was broken or reduced to part-time on several occasions as she attended to needs at home. She spent most of her time in the LH or Standard bindery, finishing up her career in the deskbook bindery.

Steve Cushman will say good-bye to us on September 2. Steve began his career with Deluxe in the Elk Grove plant, near Chicago, in 1978. He worked his way through Bensenville, Paoli, Great Valley and Paoli regional and finally wound up in Richmond in 1996. It sounds like Steve has traveled around a lot for the "Big D", but he has decided to put down roots in the Richmond area. He and his family like Chesterfield County and its schools. He has accepted a job with the George Schmitt Company as General Manager...certainly our loss is Schmitt's gain. We're all sorry to see Steve go. He brought with him a fun-loving attitude and a style of leadership that lifted our spirits when we needed it most. We wish him all the BEST!
