Chapter History

The Nebraska Cornhusker Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants, formly the National Association of Accountants, came into existence in 1978. Our Charter was granted by resolution of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Management Accountants on March 17,1978.

Formal action to start a chapter in Lincoln began in 1977. John Caspari, now of Bradley University, was instrumental in directing the organizational process. A survey of the accounting community indicated a solid foundation for a chapter was in place.

Our first official meeting as a chapter took place on April 19,1978,at the NBC Center. Our Charter was formally presented by R. Leslie Ellis the National President of IMA, and William M. Young,Jr.,then Executive Director of IMA.
