As an Adjunct Instructor & Lecturer at Whitworth College teach American Sign Language and Deaf Culture classes, to both graduate and undergraduate students. Adapt prescribed curriculum as necessary to meet the requirements of the Education, Graduate Education, and Modern Languages Departments. Maintain accurate records, complete reports and other paperwork according to specified deadlines, attend adjunct faculty and departmental meetings, and advise students in their research projects.

Instructed deaf, developmentally disabled adults involved in the San Diego Community College District Adult Education Program, enabling them to acquire prevocational, leisure, and independent living skills; developed detailed behavioral objectives, as well as designed curriculum, projects, and activities, which enabled those objectives to be met.

Determined baselines for aggressive and self-abusive behaviors of deaf-blind residents at Lanterman Developmental Center. Assisted in the development and implementation of behavior modification plans, taught basic survival and need expression signs, monitored and reported results of behavior adjustment.

Presented lectures, workshops, and training seminars to groups composed of students in classroom settings, employers and their employees for in-service training, service groups, support/advocacy organizations, IEP teams, and government agencies. For the most part, presentations were related to aspects of deafness, though Windmills Management Training Seminars were also given. These workshops consisted of anywhere from four to ten facts-paced, one-hour, interactive modules designed to increase participants' confidence in their ability to work with individuals who have disablities through exploring and, hopefully, dispelling the biases, stereotypes, and myths to which they adhere regarding people with disabilities.

COUNSELING EXPERIENCE
As Rehabilitation Counselor for the Deaf for the Washington Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Ohio Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation Services, determined eligibility of clients to receive services, provided career guidance, counseling and educational consultation, monitored and documented progress of clients, authorized expenditures, and developed Individual Written Rehabilitation Programs in cooperation with recipients of services.

As Counselor for the Deaf at the Cleveland Hearing and Speech Center, counseled hearing impaired persons regarding numerous mental health and personal adjustment issues, maintained accurate records, actively served on the Greater Cleveland Deafness and Substance Abuse Task Force and participated on Quality Assurance and Protocol Development committees.

As Sensory Impairment Habilitation Specialist with the American Samoa Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, served as Territorial Coordinator of Services for the Deaf, provided personal and vocational counseling to deaf clients as well as supervised career service counselors, researched and wrote grant proposals, coordinated a federally funded grant project, maintained accurate records, provided thorough yet timely reports, instructed staff regarding issues of hearing impairment, developed curriculum for and taught manual communication classes, evaluated performance of individuals receiving training, and monitored the progress of hearing impaired clients.

As Facilitator of a Job Club at the California State Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, assisted Job Club members in developing functional and complete job applications and resumes, conducted orientation meetings with new participants, revised and developed materials and curricula, demonstrated and encouraged productive job seeking skills, and facilitated job procurement.

As an Assistant in a private rehabilitation firm, aided case manager in the preparation and development of rehabilitation plans, developed job leads, assisted clients in acquiring job seeking skills, organized and maintained files, conducted labor market surveys, and administered and interpreted vocational guidance test batteries.

SALES EXPERIENCE
As an Agent/Sales Representative licensed to sell Life, Accident and Health, Variable Life, and Multiple-Lines of insurance for Preferred Risk Financial Group, educated clients regarding their present and future insurance needs, determined rates, collected and processed initial premiums, evaluated risk of insuring prospective clients, generated leads for potential business, and accurately completed approopriate paperwork.

INTERPRETING EXPERIENCE
Using various modes of manual communication, skillfully interpreted, both receptively and expressively, for hearing impaired clients in a variety of situations: kindergarten through post-secondary classrooms, medical examinations, traffic court, sales presentations, television public service announcements, films, lectures, telephone conversations, weddings, and church services.

MANAGEMENT SKILLS
Coordinate multiple activities simultaneously. Effectively utilize available resources; including finances, time, and personnel. Identify and solve problem situations. Accurately evaluate staff performance. Research and write grant proposals. Encourage productive communication. Direct grant projects. Productive under pressure. Ensure appropriate spending. Clearly indicate expectations. Provide positive reinforcement.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
As a member of a Mime Troupe, traveled extensively throughout the United States performing and teaching mime technique. Mime in conjunction with Gestures has been used on various occasions to communicate with deaf individuals from other countries or who have little or no language base with which to converse manually.
