Conglomerates

This is a sector we like because setbacks of one part do not lead to a entire company setback. These companies however do have bad sides to them. There are many we do not like, the onces we do like are mentioned below.

General Electric (US)
GE, also mentioned on the Media page, is the worlds biggest company on market value. This gives them little room to expand. But because of their tremendous profitability they are a good investment. They will profit from the Net (with NBC), the need for more power (with the electricity centrals building unit), Space exploration (Aerospace engines), and much more. The enormous power of the company is that a setback in one sector will not mean the collapse of the entire company. A secure investment.

3M (US)
Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing, a company with a high R&D. This R&D makes them unique, and in our eyes a big time winner. They only produce products with high margins, when the margins drop, the products are dropped as well. A good investment, with great potential.

Vivendi (FR)
Vivendi is the new name of Compangie Générale des Eaux. This former utility now is an octopus with many arms in many sectors. From builing to utilities, from telecommunications to public transport and Information (automation) technology. Because of the privitasations going on in Europe (Rail, Busses, Utilities) we belive they have a good future ahead. But if the politics are against them, they can be crushed. A reletivly short term investment with high risk.
