Goodbye My Love

Now as you close your sweet eyes,
I place one last kiss on your gentle lips.
My silent tears fall as your life from me slowly slips.

Snow kissed your hair, you grew beautiful with age.
Only warmth filled your heart, it never knew rage.

Tiny lines of character drawn, tracing each year,
outline your dear face so caring and so sincere.

Suffering many trials, suffocating with pain.
We held each other, it always kept us sane.

We stood close together, arms locked in delight.
We never looked away, we never lost sight.

Focused together, with one common goal,
joined by a love, to depths of each others soul.

I thank the Lord above,
that He gave you to me for a while.
As I stand watching your parting, sweet smile.

My darling...   my love....
Peaceful may your dreaming be.
So precious a gift that you loved me.
