Welcome Aboard!
Thanks for coming along on this flight to Wall Street - all safety and pre-flight checks have been completed. We'll be having a smooth flight, but if anything needs attention on these pages just let me know. I want everything on your flight to the world of investing and the stock market to go smooth for your flying enjoyment. Here I am at the Spirit of St. Louis airport in Chesterfield, Missouri - a suburb of St. Louis.
Several years ago I decided to learn to fly, bought this little plane, and proceeded to learn - I just couldn't quite get the hang of it! I had a tendency to get lost! I gave it up - but it was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone. I still love airplanes and flying thus the theme of this page.
For the past 28 years I have been an elementary school teacher, counselor, and administrator. For 13 of those years I worked overseas for private International American Schools - I worked in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Brazil and The Netherlands. A great experience! I'm now working for the St. Louis Public School System as a psychological examiner.
Some of the things I'm interested in besides investing and the internet include; my pets, travel, weather, Tina Turner, Rolling Stones, classical music, going to art and cultural exhibits, reading international espionage stuff (Ludlum, Clancy, etc.). and Volkswagen Beetles.
Pilot's Message:
I began creating this page because I wanted the stock market and investment resources I use organized and easily accessed. I've now decided to do my best at developing a more comprehensive "learning" site. I've invested in mutual funds for a number of years, but am a relative newcomer to investing in individual stocks. I am NOT an expert, or connected with the investment/finance industry in any way. I'm learning as I go, as I hope you do. Use the resources available to you, ask lots of questions.
Your visit to Flight-Line will enable you to:
Understand the general function of the stock market.
Have a set of resources to assist you in developing your own philosophy and strategy for successful investing.
Take CHARGE and develop an interest in your money.
MISSION: To create a page that:
Has informative, useful content.
Is easy to navigate & loads quickly.
Has crisp, easy to read text.
Will continue to get better and better!
Provides a resource for the Women's Investment Network -
St. Louis, Missouri.
By the way the background on this page is what's called an ILS (Instrument Landing System) approach plate. the basic tool used to navigate the highways in the sky when the flight is conducted under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) - in other words the pilot is flying by reference to the aircraft's instruments. This is how commercial aircraft navigate.
Useful Information or Trivia?- Do you know what the numbers mean on each end of the runway above? They tell you what direction the plane is heading when it lands or takes off. They are derived from the runway's direction in degrees relative to magnetic north. The runway's magnetic direction is rounded off to the nearest 10 degrees, with the last zero omitted. So a runway with a magnetic heading of 268 degrees is rounded off to 270 degrees, and with the zero dropped, becomes runway 27. If your pilot is lining up to take-off or land on runway 27 you know your heading is 270 degrees, or your heading west. You see those numbers on runways or not just numbers picked out of the air! At big airports will see the runway numbers with an "L", "C" or "R" underneath the numbers - these are parallel runways so the one in the middle is "27C", the one on the right is "27R", the one on the left is "27L."
