SSG Data Online
The Stock Selection Guide, is the primary tool used by NAIC members to analyze stocks. This page explains how to find all the data needed to complete an SSG entirely on line. This information was from a posting on the i-club-list, posted by Dean Beeman.
Note that only five years of data are necessary to complete an SSG, although ten years is better.
Go to Historical Financials at Zacks Investment Research. Enter the stock symbol, and submit the form. This will give five years of data, most of what's needed for the annual data on the SSG. Calculate income tax percentage = Provision for Income Taxes / Pretax Income
Go to Microsoft Investor, enter the stock symbol, and get quote.
select Historical Charts from the menu on the left.
scroll down below the chart image, to where you can adjust the date range.
select "Monthly for 5 years", and Show Data Detail in "years".
select "Show Table"
You'll get a monthly High/Low/Close/Volume table, suitable for cut and paste into excel or other spreadsheet.
Go to Morningstar's Quicktake reports. Enter the stock symbol under "Quick Takes" submit the form. Select Company Performance. Next screen will get the Book Value for the last 5 years.
Go to Free Edgar to retrieve quarterly data.
Select SEC Filings, enter a stock symbol, and submit the form.
Select Company Filings.
For each 10Q (quarterly report), select the Income Statement from the table of contents on the left. Note sales, dividends, pre-tax profits, and earnings per share for this quarter and year ago.
Get the 10Q for each quarter since the end of the last fiscal year, and possibly for longer if you want PERT data.
