Devil's Backbone

DEVIL'S BACKBONE

The Devil's Backbone is awesome and pictures do not do it justice. You do not
expect to find these types of rock formations in Indiana. We cautiously made
our way across the six-foot wide slab of rock with sheer drops on either
side of us. There are no handrails so it is definitely not for the faint
of heart. The trail is about 40 feet or so across and 80 feet down.

Warning: Careless hikers have been seriously injured here.

Devil's Backbone

Once you cross the Devil's Backbone the trail is difficult to follow. You must climb down rock ledges
before picking up the trail again, which takes you under the backbone and down into a ravine.
