COMMUNITY SERVICES

Columbia County, and our community in particular, is well supported by a wealth of community services, the two main services being the Martinez Volunteer Fire Department, Engine Company #2, and the Columbia County Sheriff's Department.

Engine Company #2 is less than 1 mile from the entrance to our community. Response to fire calls and other emergencies is unparralled.

Last fall, Engine Company #2 participated in the Augusta Area response to the 9-11 tragedy, helping to raise more than one million dollars for victims and families of the twin towers tradegy.

For more about this outstanding organization, please visit the
Martinez Volunteer Fire Department web page.
Engine Company #2 is located less than a mile from the entrance to the Walnut Hill Community.
Another superb service provided by Columbia County is the Columbia County Sheriff's Office (CCSO).  This organization is truly proactive in its approach to providing a safe community to residents of the county.  Among other things, the CCSO will keep an eye on you home while you are out of town, stopping by your residence twice daily to ensure that your property is safe.  In addition, the CCSO runs a Citizen's Law Enforcement Academy, where citizens of the county receive presentations on crime prevention and communtity services. Canine demonstrations and the firing range are among the highlights of this course.  For more informantion on CCSO community services, please visit the Community Services web page.
