Samuel Walsh

I have received an email from a woman who is married to a descendant of Samuel Walsh. Here is the information I have obtained:

As I mentioned it is actually my husband Steve who is a Walsh descendant.  His grandmother Luella was the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Fluhart Walsh.

I've had pretty good luck in my Walsh research as our family resides in Muskingum County.  In fact, we have to laugh as my daughter's best friend throughout her elementary school years just happened to be one of her Walsh second cousins by the last name of Walsh.  It took a few years but we finally figured out they were related.  One of her other best friends, since her baby days is also a second cousin.  Once you start digging, it seems like you end up related to just about everyone.

I think I recognized the Walsh house you had posted.  If I'm correct that may be the home in Rose Farm that I visited a few years ago.  My mother-in-law and I took Great-Aunt Bonidine Walsh Rambo to visit Viola Thomas around Easter 2-3 years ago.  Her daughter, Donna White was extremely helpful in filling in some gaps.   She did mention the Walsh reunion then, we just never connected again for the info.  I saw in the newspaper that Viola died last August.

Here are some details about the Samuel Walsh line.  Samuel was born Feb. 10, 1888 in Glouster, Athens County and died Feb 28, 1947 in Perry Co.  He married Elizabeth P. Fluhart June 22, 1907 daughter of Benjamin Fluhart and Lydia Mitchell (February 19, 1892-June 5, 1932).  Benjamin Fluhart and Lydia Mitchell were parents of the following:

    Elizabth P. Fluhart   b. Feb 19, 1892  d. June 5, 1932

    Ella Fluhart             b. June 4, 1894   m. George Dobbs
    Reuben Fluhart        b. abt. 1898

Samuel and Elizabeth Fluhart Walsh were the parents of 16 children.  Four of these children did not survive infancy and another suffered a fall and died at age 4.

Samuel's obituary tells that he was married to Mary Dunn Walsh, NOT Elizabeth Fluhart. Did she die young? But how could she when she had that many children? Or were some of them Mary's? The obituary also tell me that

Mrs. Thomas Davis was Ruth because I read in another census that her last name was Davis. Mrs. Juanita Golden, obviously married a Golden. and then there were Pauline, Ruby and Maxine who were not married yet. That leaves Ester May,  Bonidene and Thelma to be Mrs. Gerald Grubb or Mrs. Merrill Rambo.
