Notes for Samuel Greenwalt
Civil War records show that Samuel Greenwalt served in the Illinois Company K, 49th Infantry.
He was a Cpl. in the Co. K 49th Regiment, Illinois Infantry during the Civil War from October 19, 1861 - January 9, 1865. The 1865 State Census of Wayne County shows Samuel as head of household with one male age 20-30; one female age 10-20.
The 1870 Federal Census of Jefferson County shows samuel as head of household age 28, born in Illinois; Ellen age 23, born in Illinois, one female Martha C. age 4, born in Illinois; Olive R. age 1 born in Illinois.
Cemetery Records of Greenwalt Cemetery shows Ellen Harvey died 1884, second wife Sarah Taylor died 1930.
