The setting is Sheffield, England, which was once the "City of Steel." It was the home of a massive steel industry and jobs aplenty. Today the steelworks are closed, and there's widespread unemployment and despair. One night two unemployed friends stumble upon a Chippendales show that's very popular with the local women, and they decide to give it a go. They can't dance and aren't good physical specimens, but they need the money. They pick up four other unlikely candidates and begin practicing for the big night.

It's a very funny movie about men's relationships and how their lives are defined by their jobs. It explores the shame they feel for being unemployed, as well as their insecurities with their aging bodies.
