Computer Literacy for Malaysian School Pilot Project
 
    Computer in Education Pilot Project were lunched in 1992. In this project, Computer
Literacy subject compulsory to form 1 and 2 students.
    Every school were provided with 21 computer sets (included 1 

unit server, 20 students computer) networking to Local Area
Network (LAN).The computer system situated at a computer
laboratory equipped with 21 units chairs and computer table, a
cabinet, air condition, OHP, LCD Panel and 2 units of printers.
    In 1994, research by Evaluator Unit, Curriculum Development Centre (CDC) were
conducted to identified goal of the project. It also comes out with the weakness and
problems faced by schools.The finding were excellent. There are some request to
continued the program until form 5. So, CDC had revised the implementation of
Computer Literacy program. It became more stable and also it has fulfill the needs IT for
nation. The product of students from our education system need to have these skills
whether they are going to go deeply in these skills or just for their knowledge.
    In year 1996, CDC published a book 'Garis Panduan Pelaksanaan Program Literasi
    Komputer'. The task are for ensure the requirement for these to groups of students
were fulfill.
    In 1999, this program were expended to primary school. CDC had publish another
book, 'Garis Panduan Pelaksanaan Program Literasi Komputer' for primary school. At the
same time the book for secondary school were up-graded.
 
    The Computer Literacy curriculum helps students to quickly establish a comfort level
that promotes rapid and thorough learning. Eye-catching graphics, integrated audio
narration, a user-friendly interface, and up-to-date technical information help beginners
enter the exciting world of computer literacy.

    History of computers, system unit, basic input/output devices, introduction to the
operating systems, Windows. Lessons including content and practice quiz. The class
conducted for 45 - 50 minutes per lesson.
