Who is Steen Spile??
Many people know me, but a lot more don't, so therefore I'll make a little presentation of myself.
I was born in Copenhagen in August 1954, and have moved a lot around on the island Sjaelland. In the past I have lived in 10 towns/villages, just to mention a few of the most known: Copenhagen, Roskilde, Helsingoer, Fredensborg and Hilleroed. And since 1982 I have lived in the same house in Kongens Lyngby.
I got married to Hannelise in 1982 and we have 2 nice boys: Torben 17 is years old, and Rasmus is 14.
During my life, I have tried several different works before I found my call here on this Earth.
In my childhood in the countryside, I helped some farmers and learned to drive tractors and harvesters. And I helped a neighbour building a new house.
But that was most for fun, the most interesting thing was, when I went to sea in 1970 onboard the proud salvagetug "Bien". That really started something inside me. I got awfull seasick!! But nevertheless I came back every time they needed an extra hand onboard. And I also sailed onboard a coaster and a small dredger for a while.
After school I started education within electronics, communication radio and navigation equipment for ships and airports. As a serviceengineer I had the opportunity to come onboard a lot of ships, shipyards and airports, not only in Denmark, but also a lot of other places on the northern hemisphere.
I worked for several different companies during the period from 1972 - 1983, where I changed to the Danish State Railways, where I worked in the office that was responsible for all the radiosystems belonging to DSB. That included also the communication with the ferries, harbours, besides all kind of communication with the trains. We had our own testtrain, and 3 months a year I made trips with that.
Today DSB is split up, and all the engineering offices are sold to the english company W S Atkins. And my own work is now in the signalling department, where I work with validation of signalling/interlocking equipment.
All my life I have had many hobbies, and still have. Today my hobbies are: Amateurradio, aquarium, boyscouting, growing alpine plants, modelrailroading, photography just to mention some. All of them takes time and money!!
But, just to mention it, I am not interested in sport at all. The closest is walking/trekking in the nature, especially in the swiss mountains, taking photos of trains and flowers.
