The next morning I awoke as the sun shone through the flimsy white curtains. I blinked a few times before sitting up and stretching. I looked around, suddenly remembering where I was and what happened. ON either side of me lay AJ and Howie. AJ was curled up into a fetal position, tear drops glistening on his face. I wiped them away sadly. Then I turned to Howie. He was stretched out and seemed almost to be sucking his thumb (but he wasn't.) HE also had tears on his face. They were crying, for me? A person whom they had just met last night? I barely knew them, they barely knew me, yet they CARED about me. My heart seemed to skip a beat. I was loved. At last, there was someone that cared about me.
I looked around. Suddenly, I spotted another familiar face, one that wasn't there last night. In the bed next to mine lay the only other person that had cared for me like I needed. I was surprised, to say the least. She had flown all the way from Maine, in one night, and that late at night, just to come see me? I smiled. This "she" was my best friend Lindsay. We only knew each other over the internet, and had never formally met (in person) before. What is kind of ironic is we met in a Backstreet Boys chatroom, and here I am lying in a bed with our two favorite Boys. A simple 'hello' and a talk of who was our favorite quickly led into a friendship that not only did many doubt, but many tried to break up. And even though we are miles apart, still we are inseperable.
A sudden noise startled me. In the chair next to my bed, Denise was slowly starting to wake up. She looked up at me with groggy, tired eyes. "What happened?" she asked softly. I looked around the room before turning back to her.
"I'll tell ya when everyone is up to hear it, k?" I replied slowly. She nodded. I winced as I felt something in my stomach. I lifted my head and was face to face with AJ's still asleep eyes. Smiling softly, I gently moved his knee from where it had accidentaly lodged itself into my stomach.
I jumped as I felt something on my shoulder. Howie looked up at me from where he was sitting. I smiled sadly, my eyes still glistening with tears. He smiled back reassuringly. "It'll be ok sweetie," he whispered. I just nodded and let him wrap his arms around me.
Suddenly another pair of arms found themselves around my waist. I turned back to smile at AJ. I could hear Denise making "aww" noises from the side of the bed. I turned to roll my eyes at her. She just laughed at me. Howie and AJ pulled away from me as more people woke up.
"Jess?" asked a soft voice. I turned to the owner of that voice, more tears threatening to fall. "It's really you huh?" she smiled, coming over towards me.
"Yea it is, the one and only," I smiled. "Gimme a hug girl!" We quickly hugged. "You didn't have to come all the way down here!"
"Jessie when your mom called me and told me about what happened, I had to come down. I couldnt let you face this shit by yourself," she started, then paused, "Not that you would." Everyone laughed.
"OK everyone," I started, "This gal here is my best friend in the world, the incomprable Lindsay!" She laughed at me. "And Lynnzy, this is Denise, Mindi, Tommy, and of course Howie and AJ." She turned to look at the two Boys with wide eyes as they smiled at me.
"OK hun, since when have you been sharin a bed with not one but TWO Backstreet Boys?? Do tell!" Lindsay asked, jumping up on the bed and giving AJ a look like 'move it or lose it'. AJ reluctantly got up to sit next to Howie as I told my story.
