Nassau Police were alerted to a car fire on Alken Avenue, Wantagh about a 1,000 yard north of Jerusalem Avenue on December 29, 2000.  NCPD in turn contacted Fire Com who alerted the Wantagh FD.  Engine 697 whose station is only a few blocks north of the fire was quickly on the scene and extinguished the fire using tank water.  The car was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
