This team was established in early 1999 by Danny Ward ( Gen. Jaguar ~SAS~) and by Sean Quinn ( Sean ~SAS~) . The idea was initially Sean's as we had started to notice people playing DF1 multiplayer with labels on the end of thier names... asked what they were, and were told that they were the names of the squads that they played for... when we asked what you needed to start a squad we were told you need to start off with a website, and recruit members. So in a weekend Danny created a website which was much more basic than the one that you see now. and as a pair, me and Sean started to recruit. We worked well togeather as a pair, with Sean being a sniper, and Me being the more up close and personal type, and we would work on the system that i would flush them out, and Sean would pick them off... People started to notice that we worked well as a team, and with the label ~SAS~ it instantly warmed to anyone from the UK. We also found that playing the game as a team, all striving to achieve the same goal, with people which were initially total strangers to us added that little bit more of an edge to the gameplay. our main goal was to create a team off UK personell, but then realised that there were not that many people from the UK that played DF, and of those we found that did, they just weren't good enough. Of which this now seems not to be the case with Delta Force 2. So we decided to make it a european squad... we recruited many people, and they all came and went, the reasons for which was mainly time zones and constraints, of which we found increasingly harder to compromise with, all with the exeption of PRO-C-ESS ~SAS~ who apart from me, still remains the longest serving member of ~SAS~. Then one fatefull day Sean unfortunatly had a stroke of which no-one thought was serious, untill he died 10 days later in mid january 2000. I thought about binning the squad altogeather, but knew that sean wouldn't want that, as we had started to get off our feet, and many people instantly recognised our label for being good, well manered players who were courtious in victory and kept our cool in defeat. We had become the ~SAS~ you now see today. Below is a nominal role of the members who were serving with the DF1 unit untill the day it was no more. The squad as you see now plays only DF2, (but i am sure that if asked, the old 'sweats' in the squad would instantly accept a challenge of the record at DF1.) and to be honest can be thanked for by Aztec~SAS~ as without his dedication to make ~SAS~ that little bit better, i am sure it wouldn't be as it stands today. ~SAS~ is in all a group of people who pride themselves on being the best, and to be the best togeather takes a lot of hard work and dedication. ~SAS~ will live on, and gets better every day.
