:: creating an fserve

due to the overwhelming popularity of the polaris fserve, this guide will show you how to setup an fserve for the channel #warezchamber on AustNet.  If you don't have the polaris mIRC script yet, download it here (link coming soon).  it is recommended that you install the polaris script into C:\Polaris\
if you are not this far into the process yet, do not read further until you do.

:: the setup

once you've installed polaris into the appropriate directories, run the mIRC32.exe contained within.  this should run polaris script, assuming everything has gone to plan.  the next thing you want to do, is set your general settings.  things such as the script colours, min cps and other things can be set via this.     note: the mincps setting allows you to set the minimum speed of the dcc send that the fserve allows before it cancels the send.

:: fserve settings

the next step in the setup process is configuring your fserve settings.

within the fserve settings dialog, you'll need to setup your general settings first.  max settings refers to how many dcc sends are allowed in total, and how many of those can be filled by one person.  this is the same for queue settings also.  the file server chat option, allows users currently connected to the fserve to chat with the owner and other users of the fserve, in a partyline like feature.  the slot announcer option makes the script announce when there is a free slot on the fserve.  the max users setting determines how many users can be viewing the files on the fserve simultaneously.  the ad delay for use in #warezchamber, should be set to no less than 12 minutes.  you run the risk of getting banned if this option is set any less than 12.

next you will wish to setup your fserve triggers.  you can setup the first trigger by clicking on the trigger 1 tab.  the root directory should be the directory that is viewable via this trigger, for example your mp3 directory.  to set the root directory, click on the button labeled "..." on the end of the root directory display.  the welcome file is basically a text msg that is displayed upon a user connecting to the fserve.  on my fserve, piracy.txt is displayed to the user, which is a txt file about the usage of mp3s and legal documentation.  you may wish to display a msg such as "welcome to my fserve, enjoy my mp3s!"  to do this, simply type your msg in a text file and save it.  then just set the welcome file the same way you set your root directory.  the polaris fserve script supports up to 5 simultaneous triggers at one time, however the enable trigger option allows you to turn on and off which ones you want to display at any given time.  to setup more than one trigger, click on the trigger 2 tab, and set it up just as you did for the first trigger.

:: starting the fserve

now that all your settings are intact, you may wish to startup your fserve.  make sure your server is connected to AustNet, and join #warezchamber

once within #warezchamber right click in the channel and go to the menus as specified.  clicking start will switch your fserve on, and your fserve ad should display in the channel.  if you wish to turn the fserve off, you can also stop it via this menu also.  should there be any problems, or your fserve msg won't display, go over all your settings, and make sure you set everything correctly.  if you still require further assistance, try talking to an #warezchamber op.

best of luck.
