Tyranid monstrous creatures are generally the largest organisms in the entire swarm, save the Gargantuan Creatures, which are the Tyranid equivalent of Titans. The Tyranid Monstrous creatures often act as the leaders of the swarm, and are often seen accompanied to battle by broods of the slight smaller Independent Creatures acting as a bodyguard of sorts.

Monstrous Creatures are possibly the most powerful opponents that can ever be encountered. At average they stand three times the height of a man and are capable of smashing through the heaviest armour, throwing tanks and heavily armoured infantry about like toys.
