Hats off to the

F or centuries, Pirates have roamed the world. " Not taking anyones shit and Kicking ass, oh a pirates life for me;)". Raping all the hot chicks they wanted to and getting as much booty "I crack a grin every time I use that word" as their fat fingers could carry , for most were left unchecked by a decent law enforcement. Hell, even law enforcement officials at times would employ pirates to help them out. "And yes, I'm talking about the good ole' US of A". Jean Lafitte, for instance.

Lafitte has been called "The Corsair," "The Buccaneer," "The King of Barataria," "The Terror of the Gulf," and "The Hero of New Orleans". At three separate times, U.S. presidents have condemned, exonerated and again condemned his actions. He is known for his piracy in the Gulf of Mexico, and lauded for his heroism in the Battle of New Orleans. Each personae seems to balance the other. He hated being called "pirate," for, as he saw it, he was a "privateer", serving an economic purpose in an economically frugal time in a new country that needed to economize. When he at last sailed away from American shores, he felt betrayed by a country that didn’t understand the difference.

All that history BS aside, pirates have played a major role in world history. Modern times have not been exempt from their presence either. They just come to us in a different form: The Internet.

You have the AOL users, who obey the law because they have to. Why? simply because AOL is shitty. Period. "Don't get me started on that subject. Trust me. I wont shut up." Theoretically, these are your normal plain Jane obeying citizens. "most of the time it's really old geriatrics who waste bandwith playing solitiare online or it's 40 something yr old male pedophiles. That's another subject you don't want me to get on: Pedophiles. WHO THE HELL GETS THERE JOLLIES OFF TO A 9YR OLD GIRL GETTING RAPED?That's just plain gross."

Then, you have the network specialists who plays as the governing official as to what you can and can't do on the internet. "aka set up firewalls, ecetra, ecetra,...". By day, they get paid by the big firms "AOL, Juno, Time Warner" to fix all this bullshit up like a government. By night, however, they use the access that the big firms gave them to cause havoc. They use a back door they planted while on the job to have a little "fun".

That's Internet politics. Plain and simple. It's the way the world goes round'. Now you scratch your head and go "where the hell does the pirates being hired by the govermnet fit into all this shit?" I'm not making sense right now, am I? Let me explain in a simpler form:

Ok, back in the day, pirates knew their shit. They knew the weak points of a ship, how and when to sail on the best winds, and what alcohol was the best to get drunk the fastest. Most of the time, They also knew how to treat a lady like a lady. " I know I had mentioned the raping part earlier, but that was just a joke". Most where the perfect gentleman in public. Then when it came to being on the job "AKA plundering and stealing" they had balls of steel. Now, the government goes to war with another country and goes "ok, we will quite all you bastards if you help us out." Thus, they got hired on by the government to do what they did best : ruin everyone's shit. They got PAID by the government to fight against the British in the American revolution. Sinking their ships, casting aboard it and stealing all their booty. They also were hired by the CSA *Confederate States of America for all the dumb ass-non watching history channel people out there* to sink the Yankee fleet. "The history channel is the best thing since sliced bread and the personal computer."

Same with modern times. The Internet is the ocean, and the pirates still reign supreme. They are everywhere. Maddox for instance. Well, kinda. I consider him an internet god. "back to the subject". Internet hackers get caught but get a second chance offered to them by the goverment to work for them. Kevin Mitnick for instance. Yea, he might have served time in prison, but where is he now? WORKING FOR THE GOVERMENT. They know the best defense from other internet pirates is getting one of the best pirates to work for them.

Not much has changed except the technology behind the piracy and a new term for them: hackers.
