Easter Egg Hunt of 2004
The kids had been accustomed to having a Easter basket search each year, and Catherine was looking forward to it days beforehand, but we decided to start some new traditions to add to the old.  Two days before Easter, Catherine and her little friends got together for a Cat Club/Easter party and dyed Easter eggs.  Patrick and Lewis even got in on the action and dyed a few eggs.  We saved one egg for Dad to dye, but the one egg proved to be so much effort that he was glad to be left with merely the one.  Note the two O Hail Canada eggs!  Also note that Marshmallow Peeps go nicely with hot chocolate!
It was Alina's first effort at holding an Easter Egg Hunt, and was filled with concerns regarding its feasibility.  Her two chief fears were that the kids would trash the house, ripping it apart for its hidden cache, and the other was that the boys would trod Catherine to bits whilst searching for the eggs, and leave behind a  trampled egg-less sister.  As such, we took great pains to lay down a few ground rules.  The first was that eggs were only hidden in the main rooms of the house, and none of the rooms with doors, that is, not the bedrooms, computer room, and any of the bathrooms.  They were also not hidden in the couches, drawers, or cabinets.  This saved any need for destroying any of the storage areas.
The eggs were all hidden at Catherine's arm reach level or lower, and we added laws, whereby if there was a dispute over the ownership of a particular egg, the egg would be awarded to the person with fewer eggs at the time of the discovery.  If both persons had the same number of eggs, it would be awarded to the younger person.  It was, admittedly, unfair to Lewis, but we hoped that it would protect Catherine's interests.  As it turned out, such precautions proved unnecessary.  Whether it was because of Catherine's new glasses, or whether her skills had been honed by an Easter egg hunt with Sammy Fisher the day before, or whether she was just naturally inclined to be sharp-eyed, Catherine's basket was rapidly brimming with eggs, while the boys struggled.
