Patrick, the serious fisherman, followed our instructor faithfully and took lots of advice from him. He changed lures and fishing spots regularly, all in his quest to score the big catch. He did come up with another sunfish to add to the photo collection, but his quarry was also returned to the lake, not destined to become a dinner offering. |

Catherine had no such designs on a champion fish. She fished patiently, letting Dad thread the squirming worms on to her hook, because she was not about to touch one, then sat on the shore or stood on rocks, wherever she felt like the company would be better. But in the end, it was the innocent looking hook that lured in the biggest catch of the day. We lacked a ruler to determine whether the fish measured the required fifteen inches, so reluctantly, it was cast back into the lake with its friends, free to swim another day. |
