For some reason, and it was probably engineered by some diabolically clever middle school student, eighth grade graduation is a hugely celebrated event in Hays, and this was Patrick's turn to shine. For dinner, we toasted Patrick's success with a lifespan-shortening shrimp alfredo, Caesar salad, and cheesecake. Then Patrick quickly opened up his graduation presents. He was okay with the hockey books and the belt, but the star of the occasion was the Roots "I am Canadian" wristwatch, proclaimed the coolest watch that Patrick had ever seen. |
