World War I
Woodrow Wilson (1856-1924) Office (1913-1921)
He led the U.S. through tough times during World War as a President. He was known as the one of the most remarkable man in history. He achieved and progressed in two other careers, first as a scholar, teacher, and a university teacher. The last job he had was as political leader. Even though he had pertained in mostly one career he still would have had a place in history.
Sir Robert Borden (1854-1937)
He was a prime minister of Canada throughout World War I. He served as a prime minister since 1911-1920.His greatest achievement was to help his country to win a independent role in the world's affairs.
Georges Clemenceau(1841-1929)
George was a French statesman, who led France to triumph on the last and most difficult period of the war. In 1917, he became Prime minister of France for the second time at the age of 76. With his slogan " I make war!" he exercised powerful leadership. He sought to protect France by creating an independent state west of the Rhine River just outside of German territory.
Nicholas II (1868-1918)
Nicholas was the last czar in Russia, he ruled from 1894-1917. He was the successor of Alexander III, His father, Nicholas believed a czar must have absolute power and opposed parliamentary government. He possessed great personal charm but lacked the vision of a strong leader.
But in November 1917, a revolutionary was formed called Bolsheviks seized power. They imprisoned Nicholas and his family in the Ural maintains of Yekaterinburg. In July 17, 1918 they killed him and his family.
Eddie Rickenbacker (1890-1973)
Shot down 22 enemy planes and 4 balloons during World War I as a leader of the United State air ace. Before World War I Rickenbacker was a race car driver and has an international reputation of a racer. In 1917 Rickenbacker sign up for the army. Before being a pilot he served as a staff driver and an engineer.
John Joseph Pershing (1860-1948)
During World War I John commanded the American Expeditionary Forces, or A. E. F., into Europe. During World War I he trained and led some soldiers in battle which grew during a 18 month period to about 2 million men. After the war his achievements granted him the highest rank ever given to an American Army officer. Since no man ever receive this rank except George Washington, Congress decided that no man can ever over rank Washington.
Vittorio Emanuele Orlando (1860-1952)
Vittorio was the prime minister of Italy from 1917-1919, Since the Italian army's terrible defeat at Caporetto he took office during World War I. He helped Italy in the war by his efforts on restoring civilian morale and army discipline. He then led the Italian delegation and the Paris peace conference after the war in 1919. In protest he temporarily left the conference after the Allies refused to meet Italy's themes to former Austrian Territories. He was forced to resign as prime minister by his opponents in Parliament.
David George Lloyd (1863-1945)
David was a British liberal and party leader, who also served as a prime minister during World War I. He also was prominent in helping in the drafting of the Treaty of Versailles. At the conference he then Led British delegation which drew up the treaty that ended World War I. In British politics, Lloyd George was active until his death.
