15th INDIAN DIVISION

Formed in Mesopotamia in May 1916. The Division served in Mesopotamia until the Armistice (31 October 1918).

Unless indicated all the Division mentioned in the following narratives are Indian.

Capture of Ramadi. 28-29 Sep 1917.

Infantry Units

12th Brigade.

1/5th Bn Queen’s. May 1916 - 31 Oct 1918.

34th Brigade. (Left the Division in Aug 1917 and joined the 17th Division.)

2nd Bn Queen’s Own. May 1916 - Aug 1917. To the 17th Division. Two Coys arrived in May 1916 the other two Coys having been captured at Kut al Amara. The Battalion was brought up to full strength in Jun 1916.

42nd Brigade. (The Brigade served independently until May 1916.)

1/4th Bn Devonshire Regt. Feb 1916 - Apr 1916. To the 41st Brigade.
1/4th Bn Dorsetshire Regt. Feb 1916 - 31 Oct 1918.

50th Brigade. (Joined the Division in Aug 1917.)

1st Bn Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. Aug 1917 - 31 Oct 1918.
