1st Bn. Regular. 04 Aug 1914 at Aldershot in the 1st (Guards) Brigade, 1st Division.

2nd Bn. Regular. 04 Aug 1914 at the Tower of London. Joined the 20th Brigade, 7th Division in Sep 1914.

3rd (Reserve) Bn. Regular. Formed at Chelsea Barracks on 18 Aug 1914. Stayed in the UK and supplied drafts to the Regular Battalions overseas.
