If you are planning on making fireworks ect. You will need ingniton. There are diffrent ways of lighting your powders. I will show you some here.

You can use homemade black match. Learn how to make it here. This is homemade black match in action :

You can use paper fuse that you get out of firecrackers. It is a bad choice because it's burn rate is unreliable and it cannot burn underwater. Here is a pic:

VISCO is the best kind of fuse you can buy. It is nearly impossible to make at home. You can buy it from hobby shops or gun stores. It has a reliable burn rate and is water and wind proof. Here is a pic:

Electrical ingniton is probably the best out of all of these. It is good because you can make the "device" go off at the exact second that you press the button. Here is a pic of the ingnitors:

There is Quick match witch is just black match wrapped in kraft paper to make it burn EXTREMLY fast.

You can be a cheap ass and use the "BUM STYLE FUSE" whitch is matchheads wrapped in tape. Here is a pic:
