History of Warren Glenn Presbyterian Village

Many years ago, a vision for senior housing was created by the late Glenn McIntyre and other members of First United Presbyterian Church. A nonprofit corporation was formed called First United Presbyterian Housing Corporation. The board is comprised of church and community members with an interest in seniors. They joined with Presbyterian Villages of Michigan who have over 50 years of housing and service experience with seniors. Funding for this vision was obtained from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The vision, Warren Glenn Presbyterian Village, became a reality in September, 2000!

A: No, we are an Equal Housing Opportunity Community welcoming everyone regardless of Race, Color, Religion, Sex, Handicap, Familial Status or National Origin.
  2. How much is the rent?
A: Your rent is determined by your income. If you are 62 or older and have an adjusted annual income of $21,850 if you are an individual or $24,950 if you are a couple, your rent would be 30% of your income after allowed deductions.
  3. Can I have a pet?
A: Yes! If you have a small dog (12-15" tall) or a cat, they are allowed. There is an additional deposit required that can be paid in installments and they must be current on all shots. Two birds or a small aquarium are also permissible.
  4. What utilities are included?
A: Your heat, central air and water are included with your rent. You are responsible for your electric, telephone and cable (if desired). The government gives you a $12.00 rent reduction to be applied towards your electric bill.

A: There is an elevator as well as two stairways.

  7. What about activities?
A: We will have scheduled activities. They may include bingo, potlucks, parties, movies and trips. We are going to have a Parish Nurse two afternoons a week who will check blood pressures, answer questions and run classes and seminars. The rest of the activity schedule will be determined as people move in and decide what they would like to do with their free time.
