The Seal

The seal of the Presbyterian Church (USA) was commissioned by the General Assembly of the church in 1983 as a way of marking the merger of the Northern and Southern Presbyterian Churches. Various parts of the seal united to communicate profound Christian truths.

As members of God's family, we recount the words of St. Paul: "It is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, by putting his seal on us ... and giving us his Spirit in our hearts." (2 Corinthians 1:21)
